She has since reached the US Open semifinals and the last eight in Melbourne, and has picked up big wins against the likes of Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka.

The world number 11 has won 24 matches and lost 18 this season, and she has made a habit of winning matches in three sets.

Former world number one Davenport has been watching Navarro closely and praised her for the ability to win so many matches despite not always playing her best tennis. At the same time, Davenport urged Navarro to raise her level.

“It’s been interesting. This has been the first real season where Navarro has to defend and there is more expectation on her,” Davenport told the TC Live podcast.

“She handles everything pretty great. She is one of the hardest workers, she is so cool, calm and collected. But she wants to get some momentum going here on the hard courts.

“What has been remarkable for me has been the amount of matches she has won this year where she has not played her best. That is a great attribute to have, now she wants to start playing her best tennis.”

Photo by Robert Prange/Getty ImagesWhere is Emma Navarro playing now?

Following an opening-round defeat at the Citi Open, Navarro travelled to Montreal to compete at the Canadian Open.

She began her campaign with an emphatic victory over Rebecca Marino and she dropped just three games in the process.

She has set up a round of 32 encounter against Dayana Yastremska, who overcame Camila Osorio in the previous round.

Navarro has played the 30th seed on one previous occasion, which took place at the 2024 Australian Open.

Yastremska claimed that encounter 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, and the Ukrainian will look to maintain that record against Navarro when they clash in Montreal.

Emma Navarro has been one of the more steady players across the ongoing WTA season.
