{"id":106588,"date":"2025-07-31T04:03:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T04:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/106588\/"},"modified":"2025-07-31T04:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T04:03:08","slug":"aventura-founder-don-soffer-laid-to-rest-at-his-beloved-golf-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/106588\/","title":{"rendered":"Aventura founder Don Soffer laid to rest at his beloved golf course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aventura founder Don Soffer to be buried at beloved Turnberry golf course <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">AVENTURA, Fla.  \u2014 Those walking the Don Soffer Exercise Trail, much like the rest of South Florida, had no idea where the man who founded, built and named Aventura will be forever laid to rest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2025\/07\/30\/sepultan-a-fundador-de-aventura-en-campo-de-golf-que-construyo\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2025\/07\/30\/sepultan-a-fundador-de-aventura-en-campo-de-golf-que-construyo\/\"><b>Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Soffer\u2019s forever resting place is set for the unveiling, with flowers on top. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It is located near the tee on the 18th hole of the Turnberry Isle Country Club in Aventura. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s kind of weird, haha,\u201d said North Miami-Dade resident Lee Harris. \u201cI didn\u2019t know people could get buried at a golf course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Actually, it depends. In Florida, loved ones may be buried on private property as long as the burial site takes up less than two acres, and Turnberry is Soffer\u2019s private property. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThat sounds appropriate, because he loved this community,\u201d said Aventura resident Camila Miranda. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The area was all swampland when Soffer bought it in the 1970s.
