Comedian Adam Carolla claimed Ellen DeGeneres\u2019 daytime talk show staff members were \u201cscared to death\u201d of her and \u201ccowering\u201d when he was a guest 15 years ago.<\/p>\n
The former co-host of the \u201cThe Man Show\u201d recalled his experience during an appearance on \u201cAfter Party with Emily Dashinsky\u201d<\/a> Tuesday. <\/p>\n He said that a segment producer checked in with him before his on-air chat with DeGeneres to make sure he wasn\u2019t going to talk about anything outside of what they agreed on beforehand \u2014 particularly eating meat as DeGeneres was a vegan at the time.<\/p>\n Carolla said the segment producer then nervously double-checked that he was not going to mention eating meat in their conversation. <\/p>\n Adam Carolla claimed Ellen DeGeneres\u2019 staff was terrified of her when he appeared on \u201cThe Ellen DeGeneres Show\u201d 15 years ago. This guy\u2019s scared,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd he came back 20 minutes later right before I went out, and he\u2019s like, \u201cOK, but don\u2019t talk about beef or meat or any[thing],\u201d\u2018 Carolla said.<\/p>\n Carolla compared his experience on \u201cThe Ellen DeGeneres Show\u201d with other talk shows he had been on, noting that the atmosphere at Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno\u2019s late-night shows was more laidback because the hosts were nice.<\/p>\n By contrast, he said that that both David Letterman and DeGeneres\u2019 staff were in fear.<\/p>\n \u201cEllen\u2019s show, people were scared \u2014 real scared,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n Carolla appeared on \u201cThe Ellen DeGeneres Show\u201d in 2012. According to Carolla, the writer said DeGeneres was worse than O\u2019Donnell, whom Carolla also claimed was extremely unpleasant to work with.<\/p>\n \u201cI talked to someone who signed an NDA, so I won\u2019t say his name, but he wrote for Ellen,\u201d he said. \u201cI just went, \u2018How\u2019s Ellen?\u2019 And he said, \u2018Worst person, uh, worst person \u2014 not worst person I\u2019ve worked for, worst person I\u2019ve ever met.’\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s not a nice person at all,\u201d he continued of DeGeneres. <\/p>\n \u201cEveryone was scared of her, which means she\u2019s mean,\u201d he also said. \u201cShe\u2019s not gonna be mean to me, I\u2019m a guest on the show, right? I wouldn\u2019t know it from my exchanges, I would know it from how her staff was cowering.\u201d<\/p>\n DeGeneres\u2019 rep didn\u2019t immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s not a nice person at all,\u201d Carolla said of DeGeneres. \u201cEveryone was scared of her, which means she\u2019s mean.\u201d Ellen Show<\/p>\n DeGeneres now lives in England with her wife, Portia de Rossi, after deciding to move out of the US due to President Donald Trump\u2019s reelection. So, the thought of anyone thinking that I\u2019m mean was devastating to me, and it consumed me for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAfter a lifetime of caring, I just can\u2019t anymore.
