\n\tEXCLUSIVE<\/strong>:\u00a0Gone Girl\u00a0star Rosamund Pike<\/a> is captured in our exclusive first look at the actress wearing her Crown Court judge robes, red tippet and wig for her role in Suzie Miller<\/a>\u2019s new play\u00a0Inter Alia<\/a>,\u00a0which is described as a \u201dsearing\u201d exploration of masculinity and motherhood.<\/p>\n

\n\tMiller, who wrote\u00a0Prima Facie,\u00a0the one-woman drama that propelled Jodie Comer to Tony-<\/a> and Olivier<\/a>-winning glory, is reunited with director Justin Martin following their collaboration on\u00a0Prima Facie. She told Deadline that rehearsals \u201care\u00a0coming along brilliantly,\u201d and that cast and creatives\u00a0are \u201cexcited\u201d to put it in front of an audience \u201cand igniting a conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company will occupy the National Theatre<\/a>\u2019s Lyttelton stage for a two-month season that runs July 10-September 13. The production will be filmed and released by NT Live to cinemas beginning September 4.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWith this play I really want to explore the grey areas between our professional and private lives \u2013 hence the name\u00a0Inter Alia\u00a0or \u2018among other things,\u2019 \u201d Miller explained in an email exchange.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI want to change the world with my work, and with this team,\u201d she exclaimed, \u201canything feels possible!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPike will play Jessica Parks, an eminent Crown Court criminal judge, a maverick at the top of her career and married with a son. Miller has given the judge an intriguing sidebar: she\u2019s a \u201ckaraoke fiend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPike studied the art of dancing moves with a karaoke mic.\u00a0She also spent time at\u00a0London\u2019s Central Criminal Court, known as the Old Bailey. When I last bumped into Pike, she mentioned briefly that she\u2019d attended a murder trial there and had been allowed to observe senior female judiciary in their chambers.<\/p>\n

\n\tRecently, Pike told Harper\u2019s Bazaar that\u00a0Inter Alia is\u00a0a story about \u201cnavigating the raising of boys and whether we are letting them down. That\u2019s a big debate right now,\u201d she said, alluding to the Netflix drama\u00a0Adolescence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe stage has long been a home for Pike. In between the likes of\u00a0Die Another Day, Pride and Prejudice, An Education, Jack Reacher, A United Kingdom\u00a0and\u00a0Saltburn, the actress took time to tread the boards in\u00a0Hedda Gabler, Madame de Sade, Gaslight, Summer & Smoke, Hitchcock Blonde\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor all concerned,\u00a0Inter Alia\u2019s\u00a0a huge deal. It will be the last major new play commissioned by recently knighted Sir Rufus Norris, who officially stepped down in the spring as the NT\u2019s artistic director and co-chief executive after a decade in the post.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd it\u2019s Pike\u2019s National debut<\/a> in what has been described to me as \u201ca colossal role.\u201d It has a prime spot in the National\u2019s season, and ticket sales are hot.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pike-starring The Wheel of Time<\/a>\u00a0fantasy series was not renewed for a fourth season on Prime Video, Deadline recently revealed. That could provide time for Pike should\u00a0Inter Alia\u00a0break through and have a transferable West End and Broadway\u00a0post-National life.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Inter Alia cast includes Louisa Clein,\u00a0<\/strong>Luke Garner-Greene, Jamie Glover, Thomas Michaelson and Jasper Talbot.\u00a0<\/p>\n
