The boutique wine shop, known for its global selection and personal approach, had planned to stay open through the end of the summer — maybe host a final sale, share a few last pours, and say goodbye in person to its loyal customers.

But the ending came earlier, and with a twist.

“We had hoped to stay open for another month,” the Cadillac team wrote in a message shared on social media, “but due to unexpected circumstances, today (July 30) will be our last day open.” Then came the real surprise: a single customer walked in and purchased every remaining bottle.

“They loved our selection so much, they couldn’t resist taking it all home,” the team wrote. “While we didn’t get the chance to say goodbye in person, we want you to know how much your support has meant to us.”

Opened with the backing and vision of Corrie Watson and Will Churchill — the great-grandchildren of Fort Worth auto legend Frank Kent — Cadillac Wines was never meant to be just another retail shop. Designed with influence from cellars and tasting rooms in Napa, Chicago, Las Vegas, and South Africa, the store blended approachability with a global perspective. Its shelves were organized by price — under $25, $26 to $50, and over $50 — but the point was never about price tags. It was about helping customers find something worth sharing.

As it states on the Cadillac Wines website: “Anyone can sell wine, but few can correctly advise and guide you to new gems.”

Over the years, Cadillac built a reputation not just for its curated inventory but for the way it fostered community — through wine classes, small dinners, and the kind of one-on-one conversations that could turn a weekday stop-in into an hour-long tasting. Many regulars say they discovered their favorite bottle there. More than a few probably discovered new friends.

The store may be gone, but the sentiment lingers. “It’s been an honor to share in your wine journey,” a letter sent out to Cadillac customers read. “We will always cherish the memories, friendships, and moments we created together.”

Cadillac Wines in Fort Worth has officially closed.
