\n\t\u201cJames Bond<\/a> is in the hands of one of today\u2019s greatest filmmakers,\u201d Amazon<\/a> CEO Andy Jassy said Thursday, singling out news of the upcoming Denis Villeneuve film<\/a> as as highlight of the June quarter. \u201cWe cannot wait to get started on 007\u2019s next adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe made the comments today on a call after a Q2 earnings<\/a> report that saw Amazon beat on the top and bottom lines and with better-than-anticipated Q3 guidance but also Wall Street angst over growth at Amazon Web Services, or AWS.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Dune helmer was announced in June. Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce with Tanya Lapointe exec producing. As Deadline just reported exclusively, Peaky Blinders\u00a0creator\u00a0Steven Knight\u00a0has been set to write <\/a>the screenplay.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM acquired full creative control of the franchise<\/a>\u00a0in February in a deal with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. The studio gained distribution rights to Bond when it acquired MGM Studios for $8.5 billion in 2022 but had differences with the franchise\u2019s creative stewards. Villeneuve\u2019s Bond will be the first since Daniel Craig\u2019s No Time to Die\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon doesn\u2019t break out numbers for Prime Video or Amazon MGM Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company\u2019s total revenue rose 13% to $168 billion in Q2. Net income of $18.2 billion, or $1.68 per diluted share, compared with $13.5, or $1.26.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther highlights of the quarter included the unveiling of Prime Video\u2019s NBA broadcast team including Stan Van Gundy, Kevin Harlan, Dwyane Wade, Taylor Rooks, Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash and Candace Parker. And the streamer drawing about 2 million viewers per race and the youngest audience among Nascar broadcasters in more than a decade to Prime Video\u2019s Nascar Cup Series coverage.<\/p>\n

\n\tJassy also touted an integration with Roku that gives advertisers access to the largest authenticated Connected TV footprint in the U.S., reaching an estimated 80 million households.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon\u2019s\u00a0AWS cloud group grew revenue 18% to $30.9 billion, slightly ahead of analysts\u2019 estimates. Shares fell.
