This fox was the second animal in the county to test positive for rabies in 2025.<\/p>\n
There have been 46 cases of rabid animals statewide this year. <\/p>\n
Since 2002, there’s been an average of 144 positive cases a year in South Carolina, and in 2024, five of the 81 confirmed rabies cases in the state were in Florence County.<\/p>\n
Officials urge you to call DPH’s Conway office at (843) 915-8801 during normal business hours or after hours at (888) 847-0902 if someone you know, your pets or you may have come in contact with this fox or other animals that may have rabies.<\/p>\n
