Bailey, who already had three cats, barely managed to say hello when the cat marched into the house, straight to a litter box, and used it like he owned it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"1083\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 1083\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">\u201cI was stunned,\u201d Bailey told The Dodo. \u201cTruthfully, I didn&#8217;t know what to do. Put him back outside?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">She decided to keep the cat in the garage while she and her partner debated their next move. Strays had come around before, but none as friendly or as bold as this guy. They agreed the cat must belong to someone. He could stay while they searched for his family.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">They had no idea this friendly cat was about to change their lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"3\">\u201cWe went to check on him later \u2026 he was curled up in our cats&#8217; old bed,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cHe&#8217;d made himself right at home.\u201d Still committed to finding his people, they brought him inside to meet their cats.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754019137_149_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"640\" height=\"726\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:640 \/ 726\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Two of them, Tater Swift and Saint Dikolas, were 9-month-old brothers. Dikolas wrestles, runs and wreaks havoc. Tater is a 16-pound clumsy \u201cmarshmallow\u201d of a cat, who takes things slowly. \u201cTater used to pine and search for Dikolas,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cDikolas hates being held and has never allowed his brother a snuggle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">Their third cat, Reese\u2019s Pieces, is a \u201cgrumpy old lady,\u201d who \u201crules the roost.&#8221; Bailey worried how the outgoing new cat would fit into this mix. Almost instantly, she got her answer.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">Dikolas and Reese eyed the new cat with curiosity, then seemingly shrugged and accepted him without much fuss. \u201cIt was like he had an immediate stamp of approval to live here,\u201d Bailey said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"3\">But something deeper stirred in Tater.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"4\">\u201cTater Swift and [this cat] took one look at each other and fell in love,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cHe was immediately enamored with Tater \u2026 following him everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754019138_12_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"768\" height=\"922\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:768 \/ 922\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Bailey and her partner watched as an undeniable bond grew between the cats. They started calling the new guy Pongo. If Tater flopped on the floor, Pongo immediately sidled up for a cuddle. The two played together gently, in a way Dikolas never did with Tater.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cIt was almost like Pongo was made for Tater,\u201d Bailey said.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">While romance blossomed, she and her partner continued searching for Pongo\u2019s family, to no avail. A vet visit revealed he was about 5 months old. \u201cWe had him checked for a chip,\u201d Bailey said. \u201cWe posted flyers and Facebook notices everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754019138_946_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"620\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 620\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">At home, Pongo and Tater developed a routine, part of which included Pongo sitting on Tater like a jetpack. \u201cSome of the best \u2018jetpack\u2019 moments are when Tater has already squeezed into a box or basket and Pongo tries so hard to make himself fit too,\u201d Bailey said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754019138_980_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"632\" height=\"482\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:632 \/ 482\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Weeks into Pongo\u2019s stay, someone else expressed interest in adopting him. The thought of separating Pongo and Tater broke Bailey&#8217;s heart.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cThey spend their whole day finding new ways to hug,\u201d Bailey said, adding that Dikolas and Reese simply let the \u201cboyfriends\u201d be. \u201cPongo and Tater are in their own world and everyone else is third-wheeling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">She and her partner finally realized Pongo was definitively part of their family.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754019139_499_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"594\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 594\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Courtney Bailey<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Though they may not ever know what Pongo\u2019s life was like before he arrived on their doorstep, they can\u2019t imagine their life without him now.
