{"id":109266,"date":"2025-08-01T03:50:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T03:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/109266\/"},"modified":"2025-08-01T03:50:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T03:50:12","slug":"the-weeknd-concertgoers-amtrak-passengers-drivers-impacted-by-philly-storms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/109266\/","title":{"rendered":"The Weeknd concertgoers, Amtrak passengers, drivers impacted by Philly storms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/D60516703C7D99CE8608D3DF382BB0BB.jpg\" alt=\"Amtrak passengers, The Weeknd concertgoers experience delays\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-57dc2675=\"\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\"><strong>PHILADELPHIA<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox29.com\/news\/strong-storms-philly-nj-area-prompt-severe-damage-flooding-downed-trees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Heavy rain caused problems<\/a> for trains, drivers and concertgoers who saw delays and faced challenges getting through the storm.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-bd34935e=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">A line of passengers finally boarded for an 8:11 p.m. departure at 30th Street Station Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Some travelers were left waiting when service paused.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Amtrak posted to its X account at around 6:30 p.m. stating, &#8220;All rail traffic is stopped between Philadelphia and Wilmington, the result of severe storms causing high water over tracks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Around 8:15 p.m., Amtrak said water was receding, allowing routes to reopen.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">SEPTA&#8217;s Broad Street Line station had water pouring in like a waterfall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">A video captured it along the steps and the subway platform.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Drivers had to use extra caution driving through the 5th Street tunnel between Race Street and Callowhill, which looked like a water park ride because of the high water at the innermost part.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Just as wild was the water on UPenn\u2019s campus, where the water was up to the bumper on some cars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Trucks and SUVs fared a little better getting through, but for most it was a challenge. Rain or shine,&#8221; said Gwen Beatty from Lumberton, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">On the brighter side of this dreary day, fans of superstar R&amp;B singer and actor, The Weeknd, waited patiently and with plenty of excitement in the rain for a 7:00 p.m. show at the Linc.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">&#8220;I am actually so excited. I love his music so much,&#8221; said Beatty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Some fans arrived as early as 4 p.m. only to find that entry was delayed by an hour with gates opening at 6 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">&#8220;I said I&#8217;m staying put.
