In a Facebook post, the family also thanked Jimenez\u2019s fans and friends for cherishing his music and the memories.<\/p>\n
Flaco Jimenez, 86, died on Thursday, July 31, 2025, his family announced on social media. (KSAT\/Rocky Garza)<\/p>\n
On Jan. 12, Jimenez was taken to the hospital<\/a> after \u201cfacing a medical hurdle.\u201d<\/p>\n The 86-year-old was known for his many achievements in Tejano music. One of his albums, \u201cPartners,\u201d was selected for the U.S. Library of Congress\u2019s National Recording Registry<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n The Library of Congress<\/a> called Jimenez \u201ca champion of traditional conjunto music and Tex-Mex culture who also is known for innovation and collaboration with a variety of artists.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Grammy Awards website<\/a>, he had won six Grammys<\/a>, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award<\/a> in 2015.<\/p>\n Read also: <\/b><\/p>\n Copyright 2025 by KSAT – All rights reserved.<\/p>\n About the Authors<\/p>\n Andrea K.
