Technically, Christopher Clark was a background performer on a recent episode of \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026,\u201d<\/a> but he doesn\u2019t mind if you refer to him as \u201cthe extra extra.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because the actor \u2013 who is a superfan of the HBO Max series and the original that spurred it, \u201cSex and the City<\/a>\u201d \u2013 is getting tons of online love thanks to his decision to go big and not go home with his performance. (HBO Max and CNN are owned by the same parent company.) He couldn\u2019t be more delighted about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s funny because we shot this a year ago,\u201d he told CNN in an interview on Thursday. \u201cAnd I\u2019ve had the pleasure of working on this show a few times and it is always a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clark appears in the final scene of Season 3, episode 9 of \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026,\u201d titled \u201cPresent Tense,\u201d in which Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) meets with her beloved girlfriends at a busy bar-restaurant after an intense interaction with Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).<\/p>\n

A clip focusing on Clark in the scene<\/a>, posted to Instagram on Wednesday, was captioned \u201dThe Meryl Streep of background actors steps into her light\u201d and co-shared by influential \u201cSex and the City\u201d-focused social media account @everyoutfitonsatc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The post, which features Clark acting head to toe, has already garnered over 20,000 likes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis character needs to keep popping up at bars and restaurants the girls frequent,\u201d one person wrote on the Instagram post. \u201cCoincidentally.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official social media account for HBO Max commented<\/a>, \u201cI couldn\u2019t help but wonder: Did I just see a star be born?\u201d (HBO declined to comment further for this story when contacted.)<\/p>\n

Some even lip read what Clark was saying during the scene, especially enjoying his telling another background actor, \u201cYou\u2019re bad! You\u2019re so bad!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ordinarily, background actors are not supposed to audibly speak in such scenes, and are instead instructed to pantomime, but those present for that particular shoot were made aware that this one would have a voice over so the actors were free to do and say what they wanted as long as they stayed in character. The scene was eventually overlaid with Parker\u2019s lines along with a moody soundtrack courtesy of Taylor Swift<\/a> (the track is \u201cHow Did It End?\u201d off her most recent album).<\/p>\n

\u201cAt one point they said, \u2018Big events have just happened in the show and the girls are getting together,\u2019 but I had no idea there\u2019d be this sad Taylor Swift song and it\u2019d be this emotional moment,\u201d Clark said. \u201cSo I\u2019m just there sitting perched at the end of the bar, kiki-ing, having the time of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

If he looks familiar to viewers of the show, that\u2019s because Clark, who works as a realtor in his day job, has not only been in a few \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026\u201d episodes, but also in the feature-length 2010 film \u201cSex and the City 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

On \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026,\u201d he\u2019s repeatedly popped up in the same room with Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) and was a cater waiter in a scene in Charlotte\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

The characters now feel like family to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my own (delusional) mind I am there with them because these characters mean so, so much to me,\u201d said Clark, whose late dog was named Bradshaw for Parker\u2019s character and whose current pup, Truman Jones, is named in honor of legacy \u201cSex and the City\u201d character Samantha Jones played by Kim Cattrall.<\/a><\/p>\n

Understandably, Clark would not be unhappy if this unexpected star turn led to more work.<\/p>\n

Commentors suggested that they would enjoy seeing him in a spinoff of some type, and he has some ideas. Since the character Seema Patel played by Sarita Choudhury is a realtor on the show and Clark is one in real life, he envisions being part of her storyline.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe we have a falling out, but the girls take my side,\u201d he suggested by way of some TV-ready drama.<\/p>\n

Until then, Clark hopes to keep working on the show and watching episodes with a Cosmopolitan cocktail in hand and his beloved pup at his side.<\/p>\n
