CBS via Getty Images<\/p>\nFormer Vice President Kamala Harris was unable to say who the current leader of the Democratic Party was in an interview with Stephen Colbert \u2014 leaving even the lefty talk show host exasperated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Late Show\u201d host Stephen Colbert asked Harris \u2014 who announced this week she would not be running for Governor of California next year \u2014 to identify who she believes is in the driver\u2019s seat for her party.<\/p>\n
But Harris balked at the simple question and refused to name a single Democrat.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are lots of leaders,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Colbert, who wasn\u2019t satisfied with the answer, pressed her, asserting there\u2019s \u201cgenerally a leader\u201d of the party and asked again if any names come to mind.<\/p>\n
Still, Harris wouldn\u2019t budge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there are a lot \u2014 I\u2019m not going to go through names because then I\u2019m going to leave somebody out and then I\u2019m going to hear about it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut let me just say this. I think it is a mistake for us who want to figure out how to get \u2026 through this and get out of it to put it on the shoulders of any one person. It\u2019s really on all our shoulders,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The soon-to-be-axed talk show host<\/a> then swiftly ended the nearly half-hour interview.<\/p>\n Democrats Harris could have named include former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who were both able to muster double-digit support from Democrats and Democrat-leaning voters\u00a0in an early 2028 presidential primary poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n Other top-ranking congressional Democrats she could have named are Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) or House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).<\/p>\n
