Along with the first-generation Nintendo Switch, the price change also affects the Switch OLED, Switch Lite, and \u201cselect\u201d accessories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Nintendo hasn\u2019t confirmed what the new prices are, but, as pointed <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Wario64\/status\/1951295365291938049\">out by Wario64<\/a>, Target\u2019s website briefly showed a $40 price increase for the <a href=\"https:\/\/goto.target.com\/c\/482924\/81938\/2092?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fnintendo-switch-with-neon-blue-and-neon-red-joy-con%2F-%2FA-77464001\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">original Switch<\/a>, putting it at $339.99. The site also listed the <a href=\"https:\/\/goto.target.com\/c\/482924\/81938\/2092?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fnintendo-switch-oled-model-with-white-joy-con%2F-%2FA-83887639%23lnk%3Dsametab\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Switch OLED<\/a> getting $50 more expensive at $399.99, while the <a href=\"https:\/\/goto.target.com\/c\/482924\/81938\/2092?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fnintendo-switch-lite%2F-%2FA-83031385%3Fpreselect%3D77419248%23lnk%3Dsametab\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Switch Lite<\/a> was priced at $229.99, a $30 increase. Target now displays the original prices for the first-gen Switch family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=1025X1701640&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nintendo.com%2Fen-ca%2Fwhatsnew%2Fnintendo-switch-pricing-update%2F%3Fsrsltid%3DAfmBOor9-oBWEELw0-jdLRlp41vGNV3_L-3yj1BFUR6tP0Rn-Pt6RGLA\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously announced<\/a> price hike for the Switch 1 systems in Canada just took effect today, bumping the original Switch and Switch Lite prices by $20 CAD, to $419.99 and $279.99, respectively. The Switch 1 OLED price went up by $40 CAD, to $489.99.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The announcement says that Nintendo is also raising the price of some Switch 2 accessories, certain amiibo, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24273422\/nintendo-alarmo-review-alarm-clock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Alarmo<\/a>. The prices of Switch 2 consoles, as well as Switch and Switch 2 games (both physical and digital), aren\u2019t changing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Nintendo says it\u2019s making the change \u201cbased on market conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The move comes just after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that will bombard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/717139\/trump-announces-new-reciprocal-tariff-hikes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more countries with tariffs<\/a>. In 2019, Nintendo transferred most of its production away from China and into Vietnam to avoid tariffs, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/10\/technology\/nintendo-switch-tariffs-trump.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted by The New York Times<\/a>. But now, Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/07\/further-modifying-the-reciprocal-tariff-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new round of levies<\/a> will extend to Vietnam, too, with goods imported from the country facing a 20 percent fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\"><strong>Update, August 1st: <\/strong>Noted that Target has changed its Switch pricing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\"><strong>Correction, August 1st: <\/strong>A previous version of the article incorrectly listed the Canadian price of the Switch OLED.
