Crosswalks will be installed at intersections near a park in a West Los Angeles<\/a> neighborhood where residents took street safety matters into their own hands.<\/p>\n

The City of Los Angeles said Friday that it plans to add crosswalks at the intersection near Stoner Park in Sawtelle. Last week, residents calling for safety improvements painted yellow crosswalks<\/a> at the intersections.<\/p>\n

Crews later removed the crosswalks painted at four intersections leading to Stoner Park. The city said it never received a request for crosswalks and no projects were approved.<\/p>\n

In a statement Friday, the matter appeared headed for a resolution when Mayor Karen Bass’ office said the city will begin crosswalk installation Friday with curb ramp and other improvements expected in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

“Stoner Park is a key community anchor, a place where neighbors gather, kids play, and local events bring people together,” Councilmember Traci Park said. “When we talk about where LA comes together, it\u2019s places like Stoner Park.
