A Downey homeowner was shaken up Friday after a group of burglaries broke into his house, making away with some $100,000 in cash.<\/p>\n
The burglar, wearing masks and dark clothing, ransacked the home on Newville Avenue as they broke through the home\u2019s backyard sliding glass door.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They managed to go through the home thoroughly and found a large sum of cash inside the homeowner\u2019s safe as well as jewelry, purses and watches. The resident estimates he had about $100,000 inside the safe.<\/p>\n
A neighbor’s security cameras captured three men jumping the wall then running through the neighbor\u2019s backyard to get away.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The camera footage also showed at least one of them appeared to be wearing a vest that looks like the ones Amazon delivery employees wear.<\/p>\n
The three criminals looked like they left in a waiting getaway car.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t open the door to anyone,\u201d the homeowner, a retired businessman, said. \u201cIf I come home, you can\u2019t even take a walk. They stop you and (say,) \u2018Give me your cell phone\u2019 with a gun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Downey police confirmed the burglary call came at around 11 a.m. Friday.<\/p>\n
