It will host a regular-season <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/category\/mlb\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">MLB<\/a><\/strong> game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds as part of the <strong>Speedway Classic<\/strong>, with a field on the infield.<\/p>\n<p>The venue has sold more than 85,000 tickets, tracking to break the MLB attendance record. It might not be done hosting different events, though.<\/p>\n<p>Officials from the <strong>NHL<\/strong> will be in attendance for Saturday\u2019s game, according to Sportico, and <strong>WWE<\/strong> could also be in consideration at \u201cThe Last Great Coliseum\u201d down the road. Bristol Motor Speedway president <strong>Jerry Caldwell<\/strong> said it\u2019s a way to show the track\u2019s versatility, and that means more non-<strong>NASCAR<\/strong> events could be in the works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe we will continue to show that Bristol Motor Speedway is a facility for lots of different types of events,\u201d Caldwell said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/leagues\/baseball\/2025\/mlb-bristol-speedway-braves-reds-game-time-attendance-venue-1234865697\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">via Sportico\u2019s Jacob Feldman<\/a>. \u201cYou can go down the list of the natural next\u2014after football and baseball, then you\u2019ve got hockey and soccer that both make sense. If you want a facility that has a big open space that you can put a playing surface down \u2026 and then want to be able to host some of the largest crowds in the country, then Bristol is going to be the place to at least explore for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Saturday\u2019s game won\u2019t be the first time an event outside NASCAR took place on the grounds. \u00a0In 2016, Tennessee and Virginia Tech played a college football game on a purpose-built field in the infield. The game drew 156,990 fans in attendance \u2013 the largest crowd to ever watch an NCAA football game.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speedway Motorsports<\/strong> CEO <strong>Marcus Smith<\/strong> also previously said discussions have taken place about putting a roof over the structure, according to Sportico. That could open the door for even more opportunities \u2013 which is where the WWE comes into play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could do\u00a0WrestleMania,\u201d Smith said in July, via Sportico. \u201dYou could have, who knows what, the biggest UFC fight in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MLB has made an effort to play regular-season games at unique sites. The league previously played the <strong>Field of Dreams<\/strong> game in Dyersville, Iowa and another last year at historic <strong>Rickwood Field<\/strong> in Alabama to honor the <strong>Negro Leagues<\/strong>. First pitch of Saturday\u2019s game at Bristol Motor Speedway is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET on FOX.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Saturday, Bristol Motor Speedway will transform from a race track into a baseball stadium.
