And just like that, Sarah Jessica Parker found herself saying goodbye \u2014 and not just to a show, but to a version of herself she\u2019s worn like her favorite pair of Manolos.<\/p>\n

The woman who brought Carrie Bradshaw to life in \u201cSex and the City,\u201d then later in its revival \u201cAnd Just Like That\u2026,\u201d is taking a moment to honor the character who shaped her professional identity. On Friday, news broke that the series will end<\/a> after its third season, and Parker marked the moment with an emotional tribute to the woman she\u2019s played for more than two decades. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe \/ Crossed \/ Streets \/ Avenues \/ Rubicons, so it seemed. \/ She \/ Broke hearts \/ Heels \/ Habits,\u201d Parker wrote in a poem Friday<\/a> on Instagram, accompanied by photos of her iconic character. \u201cShe \/ Loved \/ Lost \/ Won \/ Tripped \/ Leaped \/ Fell short and into puddles \/ Aged \/ Got wiser.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carrie Bradshaw was never just a character \u2014 she was a cultural phenomenon. One of her famous lines remarked that women move to New York City in pursuit of \u201clabels and love.\u201d Though Bradshaw may have gained a broad collection of labels, her love life across the two series and two movies remained a chaotic masterpiece. Still, she never wavered in her devotion to the city that raised her.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe \/ Devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most,\u201d Parker wrote. \u201cShe has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus. \/ Held onto hands, hopes and the very best of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parker also thanked Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) \u2014 Bradshaw\u2019s circle of friends that was later joined by Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker.)<\/p>\n

\u201cCarrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,\u201d Parker continued. \u201cI know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.\u201d <\/p>\n

Parker also confirmed that she and showrunner Michael Patrick King mutually decided it was time to end the \u201cchapter\u201d that was \u201cAnd Just Like That…\u201d <\/p>\n
