{"id":112609,"date":"2025-08-02T09:28:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T09:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/112609\/"},"modified":"2025-08-02T09:28:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T09:28:12","slug":"serena-williams-former-coach-claims-theres-an-american-star-who-will-reach-the-top-ten-by-the-end-of-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/112609\/","title":{"rendered":"Serena Williams\u2019 former coach claims there&#8217;s an American star who will reach the top ten by the end of 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>American tennis is in a great place as several women find themselves ranked inside the top ten.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are four American women currently ranked in the WTA top ten: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coco Gauff<\/a> [2], Jessica Pegula [4], Amanda Anisimova [7], and Madison Keys [8].<\/p>\n<p>Three of the four have contested Grand Slam finals in 2025, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/madison-keys-sends-social-media-message-after-beating-aryna-sabalenka-in-the-australian-open-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madison Keys won the Australian Open<\/a> in January, and Gauff won the French Open in June, before Anisimova lost the Wimbledon final to Iga Swiatek.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2195838384-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Madison Keys holds the Australian Open trophy after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the 2025 final\" class=\"wp-image-64547\" \/>Photo by Cameron Spencer\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>World number four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jessica-pegula\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pegula<\/a> hasn\u2019t qualified for a major final in 2025, but has reached one in the last 12 months, losing out to Aryna Sabalenka at the 2024 US Open.<\/p>\n<p>All four players have impressed recently as they proudly represent the United States on the world stage.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to the remainder of the 2025 season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/serena-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serena Williams\u2019<\/a> former coach has predicted another American will join them in the top ten.<\/p>\n<p>Rick Macci claims McCartney Kessler will be a top ten player by the end of 2025<\/p>\n<p>Taking to X, Williams\u2019 former coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/rick-macci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rick Macci<\/a> named the American player he believes will be ranked in the top ten by the end of the season.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Top ten around the corner for the American Kessler for sure. href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/mirra-andreeva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mirra Andreeva<\/a> en route to the last 16.<\/p>\n<p>The American\u2019s win over Andreeva was her second over a top-ten player in 2025, as she continues to play her best tennis against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA Tour<\/a> elite.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"inline-links multi\">\n<li>2025 Canadian Open 3R \u2013 McCartney Kessler defeated Mirra Andreeva, 7-6, 6-4<\/li>\n<li>2025 Dubai Tennis Championships 2R \u2013 McCartney Kessler defeated Coco Gauff, 6-4, 7-5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She\u2019ll now play Ukraine\u2019s Marta Kostyuk in round four, against whom she has a 0-1 losing record, having suffered a straight-sets defeat at last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kessler will be hoping for a better performance this time around as she continues her charge towards the WTA top ten.<\/p>\n<p>Is McCartney Kessler on course to reach the top ten in 2025?<\/p>\n<p>Macci believes a top-ten ranking is right around the corner for Kessler, but is that a realistic target for the 2025 season?<\/p>\n<p>Currently ranked 32nd in the world, there\u2019s certainly a long way to go, even when looking at the href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/elina-svitolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elina Svitolina<\/a>, who is currently ranked 10th in the \u2018Live WTA Race\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>If she were to carry on at this pace, she would likely finish the year ranked inside the world\u2019s top 30, but would be some way off the top ten.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" predicted, she will likely need to win one of the \u2018big\u2019 tournaments before the season reaches its conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Between now and the year-end <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta-finals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA Finals<\/a>, there are five tournaments left to play, which offer 1,000 or more points to the winner.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"inline-links multi\">\n<li>Canadian Open (1,000 points)<\/li>\n<li>Cincinnati Open (1,000 points)<\/li>\n<li>US Open (2,000 points)<\/li>\n<li>China Open (1,000 points)<\/li>\n<li>Wuhan Open (1,000 points)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you were to add 1,000 points to Kessler\u2019s current tally, she\u2019d be right on Svitolina\u2019s tail, chasing down a top-ten spot in the \u2018Live WTA Race\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>She is, however, yet to win a title above the WTA 250 level, so perhaps expecting her to make the step up to winning WTA 1,000s is slightly premature.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen if Kessler can break into the world\u2019s top ten, but it will certainly be something to look out for in the future.<\/p>\n<p>She won\u2019t want to concern
