Jon Stewart<\/a> on Thursday dismissed questions over whether the Federal Communications Commission<\/a> \u2014 chaired by Project 2025 contributor Brendan Carr \u2014 would \u201cgo after\u201d shows with a \u201cconservative bias.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments from Stewart arrived on the latest episode of his \u201cWeekly Show<\/a>\u201d podcast after producer Brittany Mehmedovic referred to Fox News<\/a>\u2019 coverage of alleged<\/a> left-wing<\/a> bias<\/a> on television.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is them trying to police and create rules that they would never follow,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea that by having what may be a more left-leaning or progressive bent or just bringing in \u2014 that\u2019s how Fox is popular!\u201d <\/p>\n

Stewart turned his attention to Fox News\u2019 Greg Gutfeld<\/a>, who \u2014 while benefiting from an earlier 10 p.m. EST slot compared to other late-night hosts \u2014 has continued to dominate in the ratings department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not popular because he\u2019s a both-sides guy… He\u2019s relentless, and after a day of watching Fox News and being bathed in their very purposeful propaganda, it\u2019s a great way to top off the night,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n

He proceeded to mock former \u201cTonight Show\u201d host Jay Leno, who recently criticized comics for getting too political<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole thing is fucking ridiculous,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Stewart\u2019s remarks arrive just weeks after CBS announced its decision to cancel \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

While CBS claimed the move was \u201cpurely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,\u201d critics questioned if the network did so for political reasons, as its parent company Paramount Global looked for FCC approval on a multibillion-dollar merger<\/a> with SkyDance Media.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the month, Paramount agreed to a $16 million settlement<\/a> with Trump over his widely criticized \u201c60 Minutes\u201d lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Carr, who has notably sought to use the agency to punish broadcasters deemed unfair to the president and conservatives, recently mocked Democrats<\/a> \u201cwailing\u201d over the \u201cLate Show\u201d cancellation.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s gone on to dodge questions<\/a> over whether Trump had \u201canything to do\u201d with the move.<\/p>\n

Stewart slammed Carr\u2019s \u201cshitposting\u201d and predicted that he won\u2019t be going after conservative-leaning programs.<\/p>\n
