{"id":113207,"date":"2025-08-02T14:40:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T14:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/113207\/"},"modified":"2025-08-02T14:40:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T14:40:13","slug":"rychlovsky-hunting-for-red-wings-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/113207\/","title":{"rendered":"Rychlovsky Hunting For Red Wings Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jakub Rychlovsky describes his first season in the Detroit Red Wings organization as the toughest one of his hockey career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an extremely difficult season,\u201d Rychlovsky told the <a href=\"https:\/\/isport.blesk.cz\/clanek\/hokej-nhl\/464630\/tezky-zivot-farmarsky-musim-byt-vetsi-svine-chape-rychlovsky-chce-urvat-detroit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zimak podcast on the Czech website iSport<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Spending the entire 2024-25 campaign with the AHL <a href=\"https:\/\/griffinshockey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grand Rapids Griffins<\/a>, the Czech winger was limited to 38 games due to injury. First, there was a groin issue. I think that by then, I had figured out a little bit how it works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s when the blow came that I didn\u2019t even expect. After the MRI in the New Year, it was just bad. The doctor told me it would require surgery. It was quite a shock for me and ended my season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Difficult Adjustment For Red Wings Prospect<\/p>\n<p>Learning to play a different brand of hockey, while also seeking to assimilate into a new culture, was going to be challenging enough for Rychlovsky. His injury left him all alone in his adjustment, especially when the Griffins hit the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was injured, you\u2019re just alone in America,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/detroithockeynow.com\/2024\/09\/15\/rychlovsky-delivers-good-for-red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rychlovsky<\/a> said. \u201cYou\u2019re just a person who really spends time with the physiotherapists and in the apartment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a really hard time. Here in the Czech Republic, it was easy to find a routine. It took me a while to get used to that (in North America).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the ice in a foreign land, the game was also feeling foreign to Rychlovsky.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just have to focus on being faster, more agile, smarter,\u201d Rychlovsky said. \u201cTo be a bigger badass. I have to bring that to the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were simply better in some areas. I found out that I need to be stronger and have more muscle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the season showed me is what I need to be better at, and that\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to focus on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Red Wings See Potential In Rychlovsky<\/p>\n<p>The leading goal scorer in the Czech Extraliga during the 2023-24 season, it was that output which convinced the Red Wings to sign Rychlovsky as a free agent. However, he would soon learn that what worked for him in the offensive zone in his homeland wasn\u2019t clicking in the AHL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the beginning, I think it was quite a problem for me,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/detroithockeynow.com\/2024\/06\/07\/rychlovsky-talks-about-move-to-red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rychlovsky<\/a> said. \u201cIf I were to throw it at the goal, I think it could lead to more goals, or maybe more assists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hampered by injury, struggling to adjust to north-south, dump-and-chase North American hockey, Rychlovsky found himself enduring a crisis of confidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have those negative thoughts in your head, and you start to drown in it a little bit,\u201d Rychlovsky said. \u201cIt was just a time of frustration, and I didn\u2019t play the way I would like, the way I should.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ready To Battle For Spot<\/p>\n<p>Amidst his struggles, Rychlovsky was contacted by some Czech clubs that he declines to name. They were offering to help him seek an exit strategy should he want to come home.<\/p>\n<p>He would hear none of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always said thank you, that my head is still in America,\u201d Rychlovsky explained. \u201cI don\u2019t want to punish anyone, like the season is over and I\u2019m running away. Like I\u2019m not thinking about coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Healthy and determined, Rychlovsky intends to come to training camp with the Red Wings and give the team a difficult decision to make.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe numbers are mathematical,\u201d he said. \u201cI just go to camp and don\u2019t worry about it.
