class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A director who used company credit cards to spend \u00a3300,000 funding a luxurious lifestyle has been jailed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">34-year-old David Carr, of St Lawrence Way in Bidford-on-Avon, Alcester, pleaded guilty at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk\/all-about\/courts\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">court<\/a> in June to three counts of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk\/all-about\/crime\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">fraud by abuse of position of trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Carr was sentenced to four years and seven months in jail (55 months) on Friday (July 25).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Between April 2014 and August 2022, Carr spent \u00a3300,000 using company credit cards from Bromsgrove IT, which went into administration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Carr was the financial director at the time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754146814_166_0_AD_02-08-2025_davidcarr.jpg\" alt=\"David Carr, 34.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>David Carr, 34.(Image: West Mercia Police)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He went on trips to Disney World and bought expensive items including computers, high-tech gadgets and designer exercise bikes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Appearing at Worcester Crown Court, he was given a jail term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing will take place following the conviction, which will seek to recuperate some of the money spent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">West Mercia <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk\/all-about\/police\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Police<\/a> said an investigation into Carr\u2019s fraudulent gains started in August 2022 leading to his arrested in October 2022, and him being charged in July 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">PC James Hall, who led the investigation into Carr, said: \u201cWe are pleased to get this custodial sentence for Carr who abused his position of trust as the financial director of a company to fund a luxury lifestyle well beyond his means.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cCarr\u2019s eight years of stealing company money also led to the firm he worked for going into administration, impacting the jobs of fellow employees too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cFraud can often be seen as a \u2018victimless crime\u2019 but the actions of criminals like Carr can have a big impact on companies, their customers and staff, which was certainly the case here.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"David Carr had used
