{"id":113769,"date":"2025-08-02T19:39:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T19:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/113769\/"},"modified":"2025-08-02T19:39:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T19:39:14","slug":"iga-swiatek-reveals-what-eva-lys-told-her-at-the-net-after-she-knocked-her-out-of-the-canadian-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/113769\/","title":{"rendered":"Iga Swiatek reveals what Eva Lys told her at the net after she knocked her out of the Canadian Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Iga Swiatek\u2019s winning run continues in Canada, as she books her place in the fourth round.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Polish star returned to action in Montreal following her stunning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon<\/a> victory last month.<\/p>\n<p>In her first match, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swiatek<\/a> took on China\u2019s Guo Hanyu, dropping just four games en route to a 6-3, 6-1 victory.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"605\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227087007-1024x605.jpg\" alt=\"Iga Swiatek celebrates her second-round win at the 2025 Canadian Open\" class=\"wp-image-117057\" \/>Photo by Robert Prange\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Advancing to the third round, Swiatek defeated Germany\u2019s Eva Lys 6-2, 6-2, clinching her eighth consecutive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA Tour<\/a> victory.<\/p>\n<p>After the match, Swiatek revealed what Lys said to her at the net upon the conclusion of their third-round <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/canadian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Open<\/a> clash.<\/p>\n<p>Eva Lys joked she \u2018won more games than last time\u2019 to Iga Swiatek at the net<\/p>\n<p>During her post-match press conference, Swiatek shared what Lys told her at the net.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, she joked that she won more games than last time, so it was kind of funny,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s a really nice girl with a lot of down-to-earth humor, so I appreciate that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first, I didn\u2019t hear her. I think my highest ranking was like 6th (actually 5th), but I won a lot.
