Iga Swiatek\u2019s winning run continues in Canada, as she books her place in the fourth round.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Polish star returned to action in Montreal following her stunning Wimbledon<\/a> victory last month.<\/p>\n

In her first match, Swiatek<\/a> took on China\u2019s Guo Hanyu, dropping just four games en route to a 6-3, 6-1 victory.<\/p>\n

Advancing to the third round, Swiatek defeated Germany\u2019s Eva Lys 6-2, 6-2, clinching her eighth consecutive WTA Tour<\/a> victory.<\/p>\n

After the match, Swiatek revealed what Lys said to her at the net upon the conclusion of their third-round Canadian Open<\/a> clash.<\/p>\n

Eva Lys joked she \u2018won more games than last time\u2019 to Iga Swiatek at the net<\/p>\n

During her post-match press conference, Swiatek shared what Lys told her at the net.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, she joked that she won more games than last time, so it was kind of funny,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a really nice girl with a lot of down-to-earth humor, so I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, I didn\u2019t hear her. These exchanges at the net are always kind of, like, awkward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like her humor, so for sure it was fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lys was made to work hard for her four games, as the world number three pushed her around the court right from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

In response to a post highlighting a \u2018marathon\u2019 point won by Swiatek to take the first game of the match to deuce, Lys revealed what she said to her box during the first set.<\/p>\n

\u201cLegit what I said to my box 20 minutes into the match,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Lys wasn\u2019t the first, nor will she be the last player, to suffer a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Swiatek, as the six-time Grand Slam champion continues to prove herself as the best \u2018front-runner\u2019 in the women\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

How Iga Swiatek became the best front-runner on the WTA Tour<\/p>\n

During her press conference, Swiatek was asked about her ability to race ahead and dominate her matches on tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u00a0don\u2019t think I had that before because, also, I didn\u2019t feel like I had enough skills to do that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not like I was winning everything in juniors. I think my highest ranking was like 6th (actually 5th), but I won a lot. I felt kind of confident.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when I felt that my game got better and I can do that, obviously I started, but if you don\u2019t play well enough, you\u2019re probably not going to be able to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swiatek believes her work with psychologist Daria Abramowicz has been key in this regard.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I also worked a lot, you know, with Daria [Abramowicz] about my focus,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes it was easier for me to be super focused at the beginning. Then I lost it a bit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I started being more consistent later on, but I guess at the beginning of the matches I always felt like I should just go for it and start well, and then the whole match is going to kind of be easier, which is sometimes not true obviously because players are coming back as well, but yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old will no doubt hope to pick up a 13th dominant win of the season when she plays her fourth-round match in Canada.<\/p>\n
