A Houston firefighter was hospitalized Friday night after being injured while attempting to save someone from a housefire.<\/p>\n
The female firefighter, who has not been identified at this time, was with Houston Fire Department Station 28. <\/p>\n
The situation was reported at around 9:15 p.m. Friday night in the 7600 block of Wedgewood Lane in west Houston.<\/p>\n
A 911 caller alerted authorities that there was possibly a person trapped inside the burning home. HFD responded by climbing to the roof of the home, and the firefighter was injured while coming down from the roof.<\/p>\n
After the firefighter was hurt, a mayday was called, sending dozens more first responders to the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were some tense moments here on the fire ground,\u201d HFD communications director Brent Taylor said.<\/p>\n
The injured firefighter was taken to Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center. Taylor said she is conscious and alert, and HFD sources will provide a clearer update at a later time.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the housefire is under investigation.<\/p>\n
