{"id":114835,"date":"2025-08-03T05:31:18","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T05:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/114835\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T05:31:18","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T05:31:18","slug":"philadelphia-eagles-legend-eric-allen-officially-enters-pro-football-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/114835\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia Eagles legend Eric Allen officially enters Pro Football Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/eric-allen-hall-of-fame-class-of-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Eric Allen<\/a> was officially enshrined into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballhof.com\/players\/eric-allen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pro Football Hall of Fame<\/a> Saturday afternoon, alongside Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe and Antonio Gates.<\/p>\n<p>Allen unveiled his Hall of Fame bust with the help of his son, Austin Allen, during the ceremony in Canton, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, Allen said it was an honor to wear those Kelly green uniforms and represent the City of Brotherly Love. He was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft and played with the team for seven seasons. He later played for the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders.<\/p>\n<p>Allen led his teams in interceptions seven times during his stints with the Eagles and Raiders,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballhof.com\/players\/eric-allen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to the NFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.philadelphiaeagles.com\/news\/eric-allen-pro-football-hall-of-fame\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to the Eagles<\/a>, Allen came in as a rookie from Arizona State in 1988 and started from Day 1 \u2014 something no other rookie cornerback had done for the team until Quinyon Mitchell arrived in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Allen ended his career with a total of 54 interceptions, which is tied for 21st in NFL history, eight defensive touchdowns, seven fumble recoveries and three sacks. His 34 interceptions with the Eagles are tied for the most in franchise history. Allen also holds the Eagles&#8217; franchise record for the most pick-sixes with five.<\/p>\n<p>Allen&#8217;s career was also bookended with a couple of iconic NFL games, including the 1988 NFC divisional playoff game between the Eagles and Bears, also known as The Fog Bowl. (AP Photo\/Elise Amendola)<\/p>\n<p>                ELISE AMENDOLA<\/p>\n<p>Allen was inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>After 19 years of eligibility, Allen was named a Hall of Fame finalist for the first time in 2024, though he wasn&#8217;t selected that year.
