Chuck Lorre, who has created hit shows like The Big Bang Theory<\/a>, has found new success with his current sitcom, Leanne<\/a>. Interestingly, the series creator recently likened his new show to his past hit sitcom, Mom.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TV Line<\/a>, Lorre discussed the “dramatic through line” that both Mom and Leanne share in their stories<\/strong> about women having to effectively start their entire lives over. “How do you start over? Can you start over? And the answer is yes – with support [from] family and friends<\/strong> who care for you and want you to survive and succeed,” Loree explained. “Both shows have that element of hope that you can crawl out of the ashes and start again.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

Leanne star Kristen Johnston, who also starred in Mom as recovering addict Tammy Diffendorf during the series’ final four seasons, added, “There are women of a certain age who are starved for this kind of [show]<\/strong>. When Mom was canceled, there was a group of feral women in my mentions on social media that were so mad\u2026 and I think [Leanne] fills that hole… I love what it says about sisterhood.<\/strong> At the end of the day, they have each other. They\u2019re very different people, but they come together in the most important way.”<\/p>\n

Fans got an early first look at <\/a>Leanne<\/a> in May courtesy of several photos from the set. The multicam sitcom stars comedian Leanne Morgan as a woman whose life is sent spiraling when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman without warning<\/strong>. Leanne’s first season featured numerous recurring stars, including Annie Gonzalez, Hannah Pilkes, Graham Rogers, Blake Clark, Celia Weston, and Algerita Wynn.<\/p>\n

Leanne Is Worth Watching<\/p>\n

While Leanne premiered to a mixed response from critics, audiences have been blown away by Lorre’s latest sitcom. At the time of writing, the show holds a 77% Fresh rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes<\/strong>, as averaged across 13 critical reviews of the series. The series’ audience-generated Popcornmeter score, however, stands far higher at a near-perfect 96% approval rating, as averaged across more than 50 verified user-submitted reviews. Fans are hoping that Leanne will be renewed<\/a> for a second season.<\/p>\n

Leanne Season 1 premiered on Netflix with all 16 episodes on July 31.<\/p>\n
