{"id":115399,"date":"2025-08-03T10:53:37","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T10:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/115399\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T10:53:37","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T10:53:37","slug":"derek-jeter-alex-rodriguez-eviscerate-reeling-yankees-cant-make-this-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/115399\/","title":{"rendered":"Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez eviscerate reeling Yankees: &#8216;Can&#8217;t make this up&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It sounds like two former Yankees greats are not at all satisfied about the team\u2019s current state.<\/p>\n<p>During the FOX Sports pregame show ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/03\/sports\/mlb-speedway-classic-suspended-due-to-drenching-rain\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB\u2019s Speedway Classic game between the Braves and Reds that was suspended due to rain<\/a> on Saturday, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez bluntly criticized their former team.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the Yankees\u2019 back-to-back losses against the Marlins on Friday and Saturday, Rodriguez wasted no time calling out the pitching performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t make this up,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/watch\/fmc-fx2mkclcpbos39tz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Rodriguez said<\/a>. \u201cI mean, look, you can bring in nine relievers, it\u2019s not going to make a difference. I don\u2019t care if you bring back their \u201998 bullpen with Mariano [Rivera], Mike Stanton, and Jeff Nelson, if your pitchers are going 3\u2153, 4\u2153, it\u2019s not going to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alex Rodriuez and Derek Jeter made the comments during the FOX Sports pregame show ahead of MLB\u2019s Speedway Classic game that was suspended due to rain and will be played on Sunday afternoon. FOX Sports<\/p>\n<p>The 14-time All-Star added that \u2014 even following the Yankees\u2019 trade deadline acquisitions \u2014 the team needs to \u201crestructure\u201d their roster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere is my biggest concern,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cYou bring in seven guys and you\u2019re still miles away from winning a world title. \u2026 You\u2019ve got to restructure this roster. I like a lot of the players individually but together it just doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure where you go from here,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Jeter echoed Rodriguez\u2019s sentiment about the Yankees\u2019 pitching, but also pointed out the amount of mistakes the team has had in recent games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey make way too many mistakes,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MLBONFOX\/status\/1951792745866993896\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jeter said<\/a>. \u201cAnd you can\u2019t get away with making that number of mistakes against great teams. It just doesn\u2019t happen. They had base running mistakes today \u2014 you saw the guy getting thrown out at home plate. You can\u2019t continue to do it. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect<\/p>\n<p>Later on in the segment, Rodriguez chimed in and said that there is no accountability for the Yankees players this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere\u2019s the accountability,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cIf any one of us made a mistake, we would be sitting out butt right on the bench.
