{"id":115783,"date":"2025-08-03T14:15:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T14:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/115783\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T14:15:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T14:15:09","slug":"new-zealand-woman-arrested-after-traveling-with-2-year-old-in-suitcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/115783\/","title":{"rendered":"New Zealand woman arrested after traveling with 2-year-old in suitcase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/tag\/new-zealand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">New Zealand<\/a> was arrested Sunday after a 2-year-old girl was found trapped in a suitcase that she was traveling with.<\/p>\n<p>Police were called to a bus depot in Kaiwaka \u2013 about 62 miles north of Auckland \u2013 after a bus driver became concerned about a bag moving during a scheduled stop.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the 2-year-old girl,&#8221; Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said. &#8220;The little girl was reported to be very hot but otherwise appeared physically unharmed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the suitcase had been stored in a separate compartment beneath the bus passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison said the girl is in the hospital undergoing an extensive medical assessment.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged with ill-treatment and neglect of a child. Harrison said further charges are possible.<\/p>\n<p>The relationship between the woman and child was not immediately released.
