DOWNTOWN \u2014 The perfect Lollapalooza weather defied all odds and continued into Saturday for the third day of showstopping performances.<\/p>\n

Chicago\u2019s own Chance the Rapper played a \u201csurprise\u201d 15-minute set on the Perry\u2019s stage Saturday afternoon. Despite getting on stage a few minutes late, he started off strong with \u201cNo Problem\u201d from his 2016 album \u201cColoring Book.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to perform songs like \u201cAll Night,\u201d \u201cCocoa Butter Kisses,\u201d \u201cThe Highs & The Lows\u201d \u2014 and new music from his upcoming album \u201cStar Line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStar Line\u201d comes out Aug. 15 and will be Chance\u2019s first album in six years, he told the crowd.<\/p>\n

Grammy-winning rapper Doechii was also among the highlights of the day, drawing in a massive crowd during her evening set on the T-Mobile stage. Doechii and her dancers commanded the audience through a school of hip-hop, portraying classmates during the masterclass performance.<\/p>\n

Doechii performed singles like \u201cAnxiety\u201d and \u201cNosebleeds\u201d and fan favorites from her mixtape \u201cAlligator Bites Never Heal,\u201d which won Best Rap Album at the Grammy\u2019s earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The crowd went wild as she rapped \u201cBoiled Peanuts,\u201d \u201cNissan Altima\u201d and \u201cDenial is a River.\u201d<\/p>\n

After hinting at a special guest, the Tampa native also brought out City Girls\u2019 JT for \u201cAlter Ego\u201d \u2014 and dropped the news that she\u2019ll be headlining her first tour.<\/p>\n

Doechii\u2019s website<\/a> has a countdown clock to 9 a.m. Monday, when more details are expected to drop.<\/p>\n

Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra<\/p>\n

Across Grant Park on the Tito\u2019s stage, more than 100 young local musicians made history. The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra became the first teen ensemble to perform on Lolla\u2019s main stage, playing classical ballads, \u201cStar Wars\u201d songs, pop medleys of \u201cPoker Face\u201d and \u201cHot to Go!\u201d and more.<\/p>\n

The crowd they performed to was a unique mix of family members, orchestra alumni, basketball jersey-wearing teenagers and more.<\/p>\n

The experience was both foreign and familiar to anyone who had gone to an orchestral performance. There was both quiet from the crowd as the orchestra performed, but also loud hoots and cheering from the younger crowd as they shouted out their friends in the band.<\/p>\n

It was an emotional, hour-long performance led by Music Director and conductor Allen Tinkham, as loved ones both cheered and cried from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Ashish and Ujjaini Shah were emotional as they watched as they watched their 17-year-old son Arjun play the violin on stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was amazing, I was literally in tears almost,\u201d Ujjaini said. \u201cKnowing how much hard work he\u2019s put in over 12 years [of playing violin], all the rehearsals.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said they\u2019re grateful for the orchestra for giving the kids not just an opportunity to showcase their talent on stage at Lollapalooza, but also to play music and meet kids from all over Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u201cChicago is home to a huge number of very, very talented kids that are musicians in every different way,\u201d Ujjaini said. \u201cThese kids in CYSO are keeping different forms of classical music and jazz alive and well with our youth, so it\u2019s amazing to bring that to wider audiences around Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dhaval Patel, whose son Neel plays violin in the orchestra, said he\u2019s really proud of the ensemble. He hopes this performance inspires young musicians to aim high.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey all start somewhere,\u201d Patel said. \u201cKeep going, keep the passion and keep playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

TWICE Makes History<\/p>\n

TWICE ended the night strong, making history as the first K-pop girl group to headline the festival.<\/p>\n

The nine-piece group dazzled on stage with flared, bejeweled denim pants, matching boots and white cropped tanks as fireworks and drone lights lit up the sky above them.<\/p>\n

They opened their set with \u201cThe Feels\u201d and played hits like \u201cThis Is For\u201d \u2014 the title track from their latest album \u2014 \u201cTakedown,\u201d \u201cMore & More,\u201d \u201cWhat is Love?\u201d and \u201cQueen of Hearts\u201d \u2014 an ultimate ode to the group\u2019s girl power as they played over 20 songs across their 90-minute slot.<\/p>\n

Australian alternative dance trio R\u00fcf\u00fcs Du Sol were also headliners last night. Though electronic artists are usually delegated to Lolla\u2019s Perry\u2019s stage, they claimed the T-Mobile main stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeels good to be representing electronic music and Australian music tonight,\u201d said keyboardist Jon George, alongside bandmates Tyrone Lindqvist and James Hunt.<\/p>\n

Their setlist included some of the group\u2019s biggest hits like \u201cInnerbloom,\u201d \u201cYou Were Right\u201d and \u201cOn My Knees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the afternoon, English actress Naomi Scott made a debut performance in the United States by performing at Lollapalooza.<\/p>\n

The star from films such as \u201cLemonade Mouth,\u201d \u201cAladdin\u201d and \u201cSmile 2\u201d drew a much larger-than-usual crowd to The Grove stage, including superfan Christina Signorile. She drove from New Jersey to just see Scott perform.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been a fan since \u2018Lemonade Mouth.\u2019 I have got all of her records, recordings, the whole nine yards,\u201d Signorile said. \u201cI\u2019ve seen all of her films. She is probably my top three artists\/actresses of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Scott\u2019s performance, she greeted a few fans \u2014 including Signorile. \u201cThat was incredible,\u201d the fan said.<\/p>\n

And from there, it\u2019s on the road back to New Jersey for Signorile, but with an unforgettable fan experience and some artist merch.<\/p>\n

Lollapalooza concludes Sunday night in Grant Park.<\/p>\n
