Bryan Mbeumo<\/a>‘s move to Manchester United<\/a> is edging closer after the club submitted a second bid worth around \u00a360million for the Brentford<\/a> forward.<\/p>\n

Mbeumo has long been linked with a move to United, with the Cameroonian favouring Ruben Amorim’s side over a reunion with Thomas Frank at Tottenham.<\/p>\n

United initially submitted a bid<\/a> earlier this month totalling \u00a345m plus \u00a310m in add-ons. However, that was rejected by Brentford, who are in a strong bargaining position, with the club holding an option to extend Mbeumo’s contract, which expires in June 2026, by an additional year.<\/p>\n

United have now come back with a second offer, which is closer to Brentford’s valuation. The Bees want a fee close to the \u00a362.5m that United paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brentford are hoping to negotiate easier add-ons from United, whose latest bid is worth \u00a355m up front with a further \u00a35m in add-ons, before sanctioning a deal for Mbeumo.<\/p>\n

While United remain the frontrunners for Mbeumo, Brentford are understandably prepared to entertain a bidding war for their star forward.<\/p>\n

Mbeumo has enjoyed his best season in a Brentford shirt, scoring 20 Premier League goals and providing eight assists. He struck up a prolific partnership with Yoane Wissa, with the pair netting 39 times in the league between them.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old is keen to join United despite them finishing a lowly 15th last season. Amorim is looking for a winger, with the futures of all of Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford uncertain.<\/p>\n

Mbeumo’s sale would constitute a club-record departure for Brentford, who received \u00a340m from Al-Ahli for striker Ivan Toney last summer.<\/p>\n

Mbeumo is not the only Brentford player linked with a move away this summer, with captain Christian Norgaard of interest to both Arsenal and Tottenham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Norgaard signed a new two-year contract at Brentford<\/a> in March but could be tempted to join Spurs and Frank, who he’s known since he played under him at youth level for Denmark.<\/p>\n

Arsenal, too, could be in the market for a midfielder should they fail to agree a new contract with Thomas Partey and have identified Norgaard as an option.<\/p>\n
