Clubb Racing’s hauler, truck and racecar were all severely damaged in a horrific auto accident following the ARCA Menards Series race at Iowa Speedway.<\/p>\n
Over the last week, several star drivers have gotten caught up in massive wrecks on the track. On Tuesday, Stewart Friesen narrowly escaped a terrifying fireball after colliding with a barrier<\/a> during a Super DIRTcar Series race. Several days later, NASCAR<\/a> star Kyle Busch<\/a> went barreling into the outside wall while practicing<\/a> ahead of the Iowa Corn 350.<\/p>\n In the latest harrowing incident, Clubb Racing owner and driver Alex Clubb revealed that the team’s rig flipped on Interstate 80 after his friend fell asleep behind the wheel. While still on its side, the trailer was then hit by a handful of semi-trucks, resulting in irreparable damage.<\/p>\n “My buddy fell asleep driving it [the trailer],” Clubb told Frontstretch. “He hit the median, flipped it, then about five semis kept hitting us. We’re now down one trailer, one truck and one racecar.”<\/p>\n Taking to social media, Clubb Racing shared a series of photos from the scene of the crash alongside the caption: “Really bad night coming home along I80 in Illinois. Thankfully everyone involved is ok. Unfortunately most if not all of our equipment for the #03 is destroyed.”<\/p>\n In a separate post, Clubb Racing linked to a GoFundMe that’s raised over $12,000 as of writing. “For anyone that wants to help out, please use the following link,” the team wrote. “We greatly appreciate all of the kind words and support as we navigate this situation.<\/p>\n “We don’t typically ask for help but unfortunately we need it. We have worked so hard to get a decent program together and now half of that is gone. If you can help, we would greatly appreciate it.”<\/p>\n On GoFundMe, Clubb conceded that it will likely take $80,000 to replace all the equipment that was destroyed in the crash. “This morning around 1am one of our team members fell asleep while we were traveling back from the race at Iowa speedway,” he explained.<\/p>\n DON’T MISS:<\/p>\n “Unfortunately in the accident our rig flipped and was stuck across the right east bound lane of I 80. Several semi trucks stuck our trailer causing further damage to everything. Unfortunately our trailer and most of our equipment we travel with for race day is heavily damaged or destroyed.<\/p>\n “Our car is heavily damaged because they were unable to rotate it at the scene. Our trailer with car was loaded onto a roll back on its side and transported around 30 minutes to the tow yard. Unfortunately we are stuck with a wrecked truck, destroyed trailer and equipment, a badly damaged race car, and a basically $8,000 tow bill. To fix or replace everything that is messed up is probably $80,000.
