COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) \u2014 An eaglet named Star is in critical condition after falling from a bald eagle’s nest near Broadcast Lake in Grandview Heights.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Friday after the eaglet’s mother, Athena, also fell from the nest earlier that day, according to Ohio Division of Wildlife Manager Gary Comer Jr.<\/p>\n
Athena then left the area and has not returned to the nest.<\/p>\n
It is not clear what caused them to fall.<\/p>\n
Comer estimated the nest was situated 40 to 60 feet up in a tree.<\/p>\n
“Star was breathing shallow and had no energy,” Comer said.<\/p>\n
The eaglet was transported to the Ohio Wildlife Sanctuary in Mansfield, where Comer said the prognosis is poor.<\/p>\n
