A city Department of Sanitation<\/a> garbage truck driver was arrested for the deadly crash that killed 30-year-old Siohban Lynch<\/a> in Brooklyn, cops said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Timothy McVey, 41, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care \u2014 two misdemeanors \u2014 for the Oct. 28 collision, police said.<\/p>\n

Lynch\u2019s mother demanded the city employee face criminal charges after her daughter\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t see somebody\u2019s in the crosswalk? You don\u2019t check and make sure that someone\u2019s not crossing when the light changes and they go to cross?\u201d said her mother, who wished not to be named. \u201cHe should have been arrested. Why didn\u2019t they arrest him?\u201d<\/p>\n

The young woman was crossing Bay Parkway in Bath Beach<\/a> when McVey, who was heading east on Cropsey Ave., attempted to turn right onto the parkway and slammed into her around 6:35 p.m., cops said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was tiny. She was so petite. She was like 5 feet tall, 94 pounds, very thin, very frail, and she went flying,\u201d said the victim\u2019s mother. \u201cIt just ravaged her body. She was hemorrhaging from the inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Medics rushed Lynch, who was thrown into the roadway by the impact, to NYU Langone Hospital<\/a>, where she died. She lived in Brighton Beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s devastated. We\u2019re all devastated. We\u2019re all completely devastated,\u201d her mother said. \u201cI\u2019m never gonna get my daughter back.\u201d<\/p>\n

The grieving mom said her daughter was crossing with the light when she was struck.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice told me they saw that she was using the light,\u201d she said. \u201cShe had the light, and the driver made a right turn onto Bay Parkway and hit her, and she went flying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what we were told. She went flying several feet.\u201d<\/p>\n

McVey has worked for DSNY since 2022 and earned $53,187 last year, city records show.<\/p>\n
