Courtesy: Harlunn Anderson<\/p>\nA disturbing incident caught on camera in Nanaimo shows a cyclist being shoved across an oncoming traffic lane by a passing motorcyclist, causing him to crash onto a sidewalk Saturday evening.<\/p>\n
The shocking video, which has been widely shared on Facebook, shows the man riding a bicycle with a trailer attached to it attempting to make a left turn near the corner of Departure Bay Road and Granite Park Avenue around 8:10 p.m.<\/p>\n
A group of three motorcyclists can then be seen going past the cyclist on his right, with the lead rider appearing to intentionally push the man, causing him to crash violently to the ground.<\/p>\n
Good Samaritan Harlunn Anderson was driving in the opposite direction when it happened, with the cameras on his Tesla vehicle capturing the entire thing before he got out to help the injured cyclist, who he estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had, like, a golf ball-sized goose egg on his cheek. It was cut open. His arm was bleeding, and there was a couple other people that stopped,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cHe didn\u2019t want to call 911 or go to the hospital or anything\u2026but he looked just like, defeated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anderson said two nurses fortunately happened to be in the area and stopped to help the man as well. He said the trio of motorcyclists sped away without stopping, including the one who shoved the cyclist, who allegedly made an obscene gesture as he fled.<\/p>\n

Anderson said both he and the cyclist reported the incident to police, who have opened a file for the case, and that he submitted the surveillance video to investigators. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s just trying to get home. He built that bike himself. He was kind of proud to tell us about it,\u201d said Anderson, who was so disturbed by the incident that he shared the video on local motorcycle groups on Facebook.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a biker here, and my buddy Brian here is a biker, so we all kind of look out for each other,\u201d he said. \u201cThose guys give us bad names, right? Like doing wheelies and stunts and s**t like that and just being a bully generally. I\u2019m hoping these guys get and there\u2019s some kind of repercussions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The video and story have sparked outrage in the local biking community, with many identifying the lead motorcyclist\u2019s bike as a white Suzuki Hayabusa.<\/p>\n
Anderson is hoping anyone who recognizes the motorcyclists in the video will report them to police.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe shouldn\u2019t be able to get away with that. I feel like, you know, if this was my grandfather and somebody pushed him over, I\u2019d be just absolutely livid,\u201d he said. \u201cViolence isn\u2019t the answer, I guess, but I mean, he should have some kind of suspension on his license.\u201d<\/p>\n
