{"id":117310,"date":"2025-08-04T04:31:26","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T04:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/117310\/"},"modified":"2025-08-04T04:31:26","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T04:31:26","slug":"man-charged-with-murder-after-killing-2-in-crash-during-high-speed-pursuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/117310\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged with murder after killing 2 in crash during high-speed pursuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The driver of a vehicle involved in a police pursuit has been charged with two counts with murder after his car struck another vehicle and caused a fiery crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">At around 2:13 a.m. Saturday morning, deputies with Harris County Pct. 7 observed a black F-150 strike several vehicles without stopping in the 2700 block of Smith Street.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When they attempted to stop the truck, the driver took off at a high rate of speed, running several red lights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">At the intersection of Elgin and Smith streets, the suspect\u2019s truck ran a red light and collided with a white Lexus traveling eastbound. The Lexus spun out, hit a building and caught fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Both occupants of the Lexus were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The suspected driver, 21-year-old Rene Hernandez, was taken into custody.
