The Dallas Wings<\/a>\u2019 first season with star rookie Paige Bueckers hasn\u2019t gone according to plan<\/a> and Sunday marked a drastic move for the franchise.<\/p>\n

The team traded guard\/forward DiJonai Carrington<\/a> to the Minnesota Lynx for forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and a 2027 second-round draft pick.<\/p>\n

1. The basics<\/p>\n

Position: <\/b>Forward<\/p>\n

Height: <\/b>6-3<\/p>\n

Date of birth: <\/b>Feb 11, 2001 <\/b>(Age 24)<\/p>\n

Birthplace: <\/b>Montclair, New Jersey<\/p>\n

College:<\/b> Maryland<\/p>\n

2. High draft pick<\/p>\n

Before arriving in Dallas, Miller was a top pick in the 2023 draft. The Minnesota Lynx took her with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.<\/p>\n

She was taken right after the Indiana Fever selected Aliyah Boston and just ahead of the Wings\u2019 selection of Maddy Siegrist at No. 3 overall.<\/p>\n

She went on to earn All-Rookie honors in 2023 as she started 32 games and averaged 12.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.<\/p>\n

However, Miller lost her starting role after her rookie year and has been unable to match the highs of 2023 since. She arrives in Dallas averaging just 4.1 points per game in less than 10 minutes per game off the bench.<\/p>\n

3. A decorated college career<\/p>\n

Miller had a decorated career for the Terrapins<\/a>, leaving Maryland as the No. 10 scorer in program history. She was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree and an All-American in her senior year.<\/p>\n

She led Maryland to Big Ten regular season and tournament titles in 2020 and 2021, along with two Sweet Sixteen appearances and an Elite Eight run in 2023.<\/p>\n

4. Team USA experience<\/p>\n

The Wings\u2019 newest forward has successfully represented Team USA at various age groups<\/a>. She won gold medals at youth levels as part of the squad at the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2019 FIBA U19 Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup.<\/p>\n

She made her debut for the senior squad the 2021 FIBA Women\u2019s AmeriCup, where she won a gold medal alongside fellow top draftee Boston and former TCU standout Sedona Prince. <\/p>\n

5. Elite high school pedigree<\/p>\n

Miller was an elite five-star coming out of high school and ranked the No. 17 player in the country<\/a> by ESPN in the Class of 2019. <\/p>\n

She excelled at Franklin High School in New Jersey, even leading her school to an undefeated state championship her senior year. She earned various individual accolades as well, being named a McDonald\u2019s High School All-American and earning various state player of the year honors after her senior year.<\/p>\n
