The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine\u2019s new Global Medical Sciences <\/strong>program will provide specialized training for aspiring and current health care professionals.<\/p>\n In the Spring of 2026, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is launching a new Master of Science in Global Medical Sciences program<\/a> that will provide specialized training for aspiring and current health care professionals.<\/p>\n Learn more about our M.S. in Global Medical Sciences program<\/a><\/p>\n Created in partnership with the Miller School\u2019s Department of Medical Education<\/a> and the Global Institute,<\/a> the one-year program gives globally minded students and health care professionals the skills to tackle medical challenges worldwide, as well as in underserved communities closer to home.<\/p>\n \u201cThe program is designed for anyone with a passion about global health and serving others,\u201d said Elahe Nezami, Ph.D.<\/a>, professor of professional practice in the\u00a0Department of Public Health Sciences at the Miller School and the program\u2019s director. \u201cBut the same skills apply closer to home. Many areas of Miami and Florida face health care challenges similar to those in developing countries, where resources are limited and people are in need.\u201d<\/p>\n Collaboration Across Medical Disciplines<\/p>\n The M.S. in Global Medical Sciences\u00a0takes an interdisciplinary approach that fosters collaboration across disciplines. A key highlight of the program is a faculty-led study abroad opportunity that allows students to explore different health care systems around the world.<\/p>\n \u201cI am thrilled that we can offer this master\u2019s program to build global health skills among our trainees and thus facilitate their development into transformational leaders for the global community,\u201d said Latha Chandran, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A.,<\/a> executive dean for education and policy and the Bernard J. Fogel Chair in Medical Education at the Miller School.<\/p>\n Applicants to the program must hold a bachelor\u2019s degree and demonstrate a strong interest in global health and service.\u00a0The 30-credit degree program will be hybrid, consisting of a mix of online coursework and experiential learning.
