{"id":11913,"date":"2025-06-24T22:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T22:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/11913\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T22:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T22:51:10","slug":"jewish-new-yorkers-furious-over-bizarre-pro-zohran-mamdani-texts-evoking-oct-7-attacks-disgusted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/11913\/","title":{"rendered":"Jewish New Yorkers furious over bizarre pro-Zohran Mamdani texts evoking Oct. 7 attacks: &#8216;Disgusted&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jewish New Yorkers were \u201cstunned\u201d and \u201cdisgusted\u201d in the run-up to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/24\/us-news\/nyc-mayoral-primary-election-live-updates-results-reactions-from-races-across-the-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tuesday\u2019s mayoral primary <\/a>by bizarre pro-<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/23\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-wants-to-spend-65m-on-trans-medical-treatment-including-for-minors-if-elected-nyc-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zohran Mamdani<\/a> text messages claiming to come from a friend of a slain <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/10\/07\/hamas-terrorism-in-israel-western-leaders-condemn-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack<\/a> victim.<\/p>\n<p>The shady sender told a registered Democratic voter \u2014 who shared the texts with The Post \u2014 that they were an Orthodox Jew supporting Mamdani, a vocal critic of Israel and its war in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to go a bit off script for a second because I\u2019m Jewish, wear a kippah every day, and I support Zohran,\u201d the text said.<\/p>\n<p>Jewish New Yorkers were \u201cstunned\u201d and \u201cdisgusted\u201d after an individual shared text messages in favor of voting for Zohran Mamdani allegedly from someone who lost a friend in the horrific Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack. LP Media<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy friend Idan was murdered on October 7 at the Re\u2019im music festival. The war is personal to me, as it is to many in our community. Idan believed in peace, just like Zohran does,\u201d the June 12 message continued, invoking the memory of a murdered Israeli.<\/p>\n<p>The gobsmacking messages came after the Jewish voter responded to an initial text tagged with \u201cZohran for NYC\u201d by arguing that Mamdani wouldn\u2019t receive any votes from Jewish New Yorkers like them.<\/p>\n<p>The voter said they were \u201cstunned\u201d and \u201cdisgusted\u201d by the texts seemingly trying to exploit the memory of murdered Jewish people to drum up votes for Mamdani \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/23\/us-news\/poll-shows-mamdani-overtaking-cuomo-in-nycs-ranked-choice-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who appeared to be running neck-and-neck <\/a>with former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the heated Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s trying to normalize that other Jews are voting for him, that he\u2019s for the Jewish people \u2013 even though everything he says is the opposite of that,\u201d said the voter, an Upper East Side Democrat who backed Cuomo and Whitney Tilson in the ranked-choice contest.<\/p>\n<p>The unknown sender claimed to be Jewish \u2014 and to have had a friend murdered on Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p>Who sent the texts and whether they were a dirty political ploy launched by one of Mamdani\u2019s campaign rivals was unclear \u2014 as was whether they\u2019re from a text bot or a volunteer.<\/p>\n<p>It also wasn\u2019t known how many New York City voters had received the messages.<\/p>\n<p>Another New Yorker who received a text claiming to be from the Mamdani campaign answered the political pitch with the same response, explaining that he\u2019s Jewish and received the exact same initial talking point in a subsequent message, as seen by The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani has supported the boycott, divest and sanctions movement against Israel, pledged to arrest Israeli Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/24\/world-news\/israels-leaders-seek-gaza-refocus-amid-ceasefire-with-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> if he sets foot in New York City and recently refused to denounce the \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d rallying cry that many view as a call to violence against Jewish.<\/p>\n<p>He has repeatedly contended he\u2019s not antisemitic.<\/p>\n<p>A Jewish watchdog group blasted the pro-Mamdani texts.<\/p>\n<p>The unknown sender said to a registered Democratic voter that they are an Orthodox Jew supporting Mamdani, who has been seen as a vocal critic of the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n<p>The voter who received the text messages was \u201cdisgusted\u201d by the texts he received and opted to vote for Andrew Cuomo and Whitney Tilson in the ranked-choice voting system.
