Upstart outdoor apparel and gear chain KUIU<\/a> hopes to snare San Antonio hunters with its first local shop, at 255 East Basse Rd. #528. The new Alamo Quarry Market<\/a> store, only the third for the sporty brand, will open Friday, August 1, with an assortment of high-performance camouflage hoodies, thermals, and travel bags.<\/p>\n

Former Denver Bronco Jason Hairston founded the brand in 2010 after selling his other hunting gear company, Sitka, to Gore-Tex. Although KUIU has had an active e-commerce business for more than a decade, it has only recently started beefing up its retail presence, beginning with a Dallas location in 2023.<\/p>\n

Although KUIU pointedly positions itself as a hunting store, it does not sell firearms or other weaponry. Instead, it focuses on waterproof and insulated pants, equipment harnesses, equipment packs, and other rugged staples that can be used inside a deer blind or out.<\/p>\n

A release says the company chose San Antonio after seeing double-digit sales growth across Texas following its Dallas debut. A Houston location is set to open later in 2025.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re excited to bring our innovative gear and expert service to San Antonio.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those services will include custom pack fittings and advice from staff members trained in hunting sports and Texas\u2019 diverse mix of landscapes. KUIU San Antonio will also carry limited-edition sticker packs, shirts, and hats specifically designed for the Texas market.<\/p>\n
