A 1-year-old girl apparently drowned in the pool of a Bronx day care while her caretaker was preoccupied with cooking, cops and law enforcement sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police found the tot unconscious and unresponsive in the pool outside the home-run day care on Story Avenue near Olmstead Avenue in Castle Hill when they responded to a 911 call around 12:50 p.m. Friday, according to authorities and sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The baby was in the care of a 47-year-old woman who had been cooking for about 20 minutes when she realized she hadn\u2019t seen the little girl, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The child was unconscious and unresponsive when officers arrived, and she was taken to Montefiore Einstein Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, cops said.<\/p>\n
No criminality was immediately suspected in the death of the girl, who has not been officially identified by police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The city medical examiner\u2019s office will determine her official cause of death.<\/p>\n
