George Clooney doesn\u2019t \u201cgive a s–t\u201d about what his critics\u2014including Hunter Biden<\/a>\u2014think of his acting, he declared in a recent interview.<\/p>\n

Clooney addressed the criticism that his roles lack \u201cversatility\u201d in a profile for Vanity Fair<\/a> out Monday. \u201cDo people say that I only play myself? I don\u2019t give a s–t,\u201d he told the magazine. \u201cThere aren\u2019t that many guys in my age group that are allowed to do both broad comedies like O Brother [Where Art Thou\/], and then do Michael Clayton, or Syriana. So if that means I\u2019m playing myself all the time, I don\u2019t give a s–t.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a high-profile Democratic fundraiser and activist, Clooney has butted heads with a number of political figures on both sides of the aisle\u2014drawing criticism for his acting work nearly every time. Last June, Russian security head Dmitry Medvedev<\/a> threatened Clooney over the Clooney Foundation\u2019s work in the country, as he called him a \u201cmediocre actor\u201d<\/a> in a post to X.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Joe Biden\u2019s son Hunter took aim at the actor<\/a> on the At Our Table podcast after Clooney wrote an New York Times op-ed<\/a> pushing the then-president not to seek re-election. <\/p>\n

\u201cI love George Clooney\u2019s movies, but I don\u2019t really give a s–t what he thinks about who should be the nominee for the Democratic Party,\u201d Biden said at the time. He then slammed Clooney\u2019s acting abilities in his expletive-filled tirade, \u201cI was about to say I really like George Clooney as an actor, but the truth of the matter is, the truth is, I\u2019ll be honest, I really don\u2019t like George Clooney as an actor or as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cF— him! F— him and f— everybody around him,\u201d he also said, \u201cI agree with Quentin Tarantino. George Clooney is not a f—ing actor… He\u2019s a brand.\u201d Others have criticized Clooney\u2019s filmography by arguing he should stick to playing \u201csuave,\u201d<\/a> as his \u201crange of emotions is limited.\u201d Clooney told Vanity Fair he doesn\u2019t see any validity in the critique. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been the beneficiary of having my career not be massively successful in lots of different directions,\u201d Clooney said. \u201cI didn\u2019t really get successful, in the kind of success that can be blinding, until I was 33 years old. I\u2019d been working for 12 years at that point. I had a real understanding of how fleeting all of it is and how little it has to do with you, quite honestly.\u201d <\/p>\n
