Kyle Busch<\/strong> has three opportunities left to clinch his spot in the 2025 NASCAR<\/a><\/strong> Cup Series playoffs. Simply put, Busch needs to win at either Watkins Glen, Richmond or Daytona. <\/p>\n

Busch, however, hasn\u2019t been to Victory Lane since June 2023 at Gateway. It\u2019s now or never for Busch over the next three weeks, and Jordan Bianchi<\/strong> of The Athletic is watching for the two-time Cup champion to make some noise at Richmond. <\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, let\u2019s talk about Kyle Busch. What a day for him,\u201d Bianchi said on \u201cThe Teardown<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cStarting in the back in a backup car, crashes hard. Now, was in the mix running well at times. You\u2019re going to Richmond, a place he does really, really well at and if you can take from today and apply it there \u2014 I feel like Richmond is gonna be one of those things that comes out of nowhere and surprises people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeff Gluck<\/strong>, Bianchi\u2019s co-host, agreed with Bianchi that Richmond could yield a first-time winner this season: \u201cI\u2019m starting to talk myself into the same thing. I think Richmond could be a new winner; I really do.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kyle Busch is really, really good at Richmond<\/p>\n

Historically, Richmond has been one of Busch\u2019s best racetracks. Busch has six wins and has finished outside the top 20 just once in 38 starts at the 0.75-mile oval. From September 2017 to August 2022 \u2014 a 10-race stretch \u2014 Busch finished inside the top 10 in every race. In six starts in the Next Gen era, he\u2019s compiled three top 10s. <\/p>\n

A top 10 will do him no good this time around; he needs to win. Sunday\u2019s race at Iowa was another opportunity at doing that, but the weekend quickly went sideways. Busch crashed in practice and was forced to start from the rear of the field in a backup car. While he was in the mix at times, he wound up finishing 20th.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started the weekend in a deficit after going to a backup car on Saturday and spent most of the day Sunday just battling for track position in our Chevrolet. Crew chief Randall Burnett<\/strong> made some race strategy calls that got us into the top 10 and earned us some stage points, but we lost that track position in Stage 3 and struggled to return to the front,\u201d Busch said after the race. \u201cOur Chevy couldn\u2019t turn in traffic, even with the freshest tires and dirty air didn\u2019t help.
