Zohran Mamdani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zohran Mamdani refused \u2014 again \u2014 to take any public questions from Post reporters on Monday, continuing a clear policy even if his campaign doesn\u2019t care to admit it.<\/p>\n<p>What is he afraid of?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019d be one thing if the Democratic mayoral nominee simply refused to engage with The Post\u2019s columnists and editorial board.<\/p>\n<p>But we\u2019re talking about his attitude toward our news side \u2014 which, with the industry\u2019s general decline, at this point is the main local-news gathering operation left in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>His team last sent us a public schedule the day he<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/30\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-back-from-uganda-dodges-questions-after-meeting-with-slain-nypd-cop-didarul-islams-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> returned from Uganda <\/a>(July 30); before that, you have to go back to April.<\/p>\n<p>Nor did they alert us to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/04\/us-news\/far-left-sen-warren-gushes-over-nyc-mayoral-candidate-zohran-mamdani-as-other-high-profile-dems-stay-silent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monday\u2019s event with Sen. Liz Warren <\/a>(though they did confirm it when we asked).<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tMore From\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPost Editorial Board<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps he\u2019s taking cues from former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who once tried to ban The Post from all news conferences because he didn\u2019t like our questions.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, we\u2019re seeing a bit more response from the campaign as it staffs up: On Monday, it even gave our reporters a response to some questions.<\/p>\n<p>But the candidate himself doesn\u2019t seem to be on board: He last called on a Post reporter at a press conference on June 20, before the Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGet opinions and commentary from our columnists\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSubscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter!\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>He ignored us at his<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/30\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-doubles-down-on-disbanding-nypd-unit-that-responded-to-nyc-shooting-but-backs-off-unpopular-defund-stance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> July 30 conference on the Midtown shooting<\/a>, and again Monday during the Warren presser.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani certainly knows we\u2019re here, and even realizes we\u2019re a part of the city scene \u2014 heck, he\u2019s even taken our name in vain by offering up his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/20\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-visits-uganda-with-wife-after-secret-wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed Post headlines<\/a>.
