(Photo by Han Myung-Gu\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Gavi\u2019s ascension could come at the expense of another star in the form of Frenkie de Jong.<\/p>\n<p>De Jong is coming on the back of a turnaround season where he was one of Barcelona\u2019s most consistent players, even redeeming himself as a first-team regular.<\/p>\n<p>But should Gavi start to feature regularly, coach Flick might want to replace de Jong in the starting eleven, with Gavi and Pedri starting in midfield.<\/p>\n<p>This could prove to be quite the twist, especially given the fact that de Jong is currently on the verge of <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/why-barcelona-are-rushing-to-finalise-key-midfielders-contract-renewal-until-2029\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">signing a new long-term contract at Barcelona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it will be interesting to see how things shape in the Barcelona midfield as the club gear up for an important season ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Barcelona capped off their pre-season tour to Asia with a superb performance against Daegu, notably winning 5-0.
