The sons of prominent U.K. conspiracy theorist Kate Shemirani are blaming their sister’s death on their mother’s anti-science views<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Gabriel and Sebastian Shemirani told the BBC news program Panorama that their sister Paloma died from non-Hodgkin lymphoma after refusing chemotherapy for the illness,\u00a0a decision they believe was influenced by their mother<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Kate has blamed Paloma’s death on a cover-up, and in response to the Panorama episode, posted on social media, “Let them all fall on their swords.\u00a0My silence has been for a reason our silence as her parents has been for a reason”<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The sons of prominent anti-vaxxer<\/a> and conspiracy theorist Kate Shemirani have blamed the former nurse for the death of their sister, her daughter Paloma, who died in 2024 after refusing chemotherapy<\/a> for cancer.<\/p>\n In a Monday, June 23, interview with the BBC<\/a> news program Panorama<\/a>, Gabriel and Sebastian Shemirani said that while growing up in the English town of Uckfield, their mother believed that the Sept. 11<\/a> terrorist attack on the World Trade Center was an “inside job” and that the Sandy Hook<\/a> school shooting was staged.<\/p>\n When their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, the ordeal fortified her anti-science views, they said \u2014 and while Kate underwent surgery to remove the cancer, she credited her recovery to juices<\/a> and coffee enemas.<\/p>\n Kate Shemirani\/Facebook<\/p>\n Paloma Shemirani died after refusing to undergo chemotherapy for cancer.<\/p>\n Although Gabriel and Sebastian stopped speaking with their mother after their parents split, Paloma \u2014 Gabriel\u2019s twin \u2014 remained in contact with her. As Sebastian told the BBC, \u201cPaloma’s strategy was to appease, to be sweet, to try and win the love that she hadn’t been granted earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n When Paloma was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma<\/a> in late 2023, she was given a positive prognosis \u2014 80% chance of survival \u2014 with chemotherapy<\/a>; without it, the BBC reports, the cancer could be fatal.<\/p>\n However, BBC reported that once Kate visited her daughter in the hospital, Paloma decided against chemotherapy, opting to treat her cancer with Gerson therapy<\/a>, which involves juices, supplements, and enemas, and is not an approved treatment for cancer, the National Cancer Institute<\/a> notes. No studies have been done that support the belief that it’s an effective cancer treatment, according to the NCI.<\/p>\n Paloma’s mother supervised her care, the BBC reports; in July 2024, she was put on life support following a heart attack. A few days later, Paloma had died at 23 years old.<\/p>\n Kate responded to Paloma\u2019s death by proclaiming in posts on X<\/a> that she had been murdered and that her death had been covered up. \u201cMedicine is a lie and what we once believed to be healthcare is now a homicide service,\u201d she wrote, later calling her daughter\u2019s death \u201cone big massive manslaughter case<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Sebastian placed the blame for his sister’s death squarely on his mother, and told the BBC, \u201cMy sister has passed away as a direct consequence of my mum\u2019s actions and beliefs.
