{"id":120620,"date":"2025-08-05T10:25:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T10:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/120620\/"},"modified":"2025-08-05T10:25:21","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T10:25:21","slug":"chargers-denzel-perryman-wont-be-charged-in-assault-weapons-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/120620\/","title":{"rendered":"Chargers&#8217; Denzel Perryman won&#8217;t be charged in assault weapons case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles County District Attorney&#8217;s office will not pursue charges against Chargers linebacker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/chargers\/story\/2024-03-19\/chargers-bringing-back-linebacker-denzel-perryman-run-defense\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Denzel Perryman;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Denzel Perryman<\/a>, who was arrested on suspicion of felony weapons possession Friday night, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Dept. records.<\/p>\n<p>Perryman was arrested after deputies allegedly discovered five firearms \u2014 including two assault-style weapons \u2014 in his vehicle during a traffic stop Friday night, the agency said in a statement. And love Denzel. He\u2019s always done right. He\u2019s never been in trouble. They\u2019ve got a beautiful family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In training camp, Perryman was batting to be a starter at middle linebacker. In his absence, Troy Dye has taken most of the first-team snaps.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>One of the veterans of the Chargers\u2019 defense, Perryman, 32, had 55 tackles and one sack last season. The meeting was straight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harbaugh said he\u2019s hopeful about the signing but is waiting on negotiations between general manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/chargers\/story\/2025-01-10\/chargers-texans-preview-afc-wild-card-playoffs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Joe Hortiz;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Joe Hortiz<\/a> and Allen\u2019s camp.<\/p>\n<p>Last season with the Bears, Allen was the team\u2019s second-leading receiver in a struggling Chicago offense. He started 15 games, was targeted 121 times, and finished with 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, the 33-year-old has battled injuries, missing 11 games over his final two seasons with the Chargers because of a hamstring strain and a heel bruise.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s got the license to be one of the best,\u201d Harbaugh said. \u201cThat all gets determined on the field \u2014 who we play. We play the best players. &#8230; So, like all the receivers on our team, he would have that opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Etc.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s leading receiver, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/chargers\/story\/2024-11-01\/chargers-ladd-mcconkey-rookie-receiver\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Ladd McConkey;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Ladd McConkey<\/a>, has been working off to the side since July 29 with an undisclosed injury. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman described it as \u201cextremely minor.\u201d Harbaugh added that McConkey is \u201cdoing everything he can to get back\u201d and continues to work without pads. &#8230; Mekhi Becton has also been absent from on-field reps as he deals with an injury Harbaugh called \u201cnot severe.\u201d &#8230; Najee Harris began ramping up his conditioning this past week, doing laps around the practice field wearing a visored helmet and weight vest.
