{"id":120807,"date":"2025-08-05T12:05:24","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T12:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/120807\/"},"modified":"2025-08-05T12:05:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T12:05:24","slug":"social-security-will-stop-sending-paper-checks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/120807\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security will stop sending paper checks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">(CNN) &#8211; The federal government will soon stop sending out paper checks for federal payments, including social security beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It is part of an effort to fully modernize federal benefit payments, save money and fight financial fraud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">More than half a million recipients, less than 1%, need to choose another way to receive their social security benefits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Recipients can choose either direct deposit or a pre-paid debit card known as Direct Express.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It starts on Sept. 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If you still need to receive a paper check, you can request a waiver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Some exceptions will be made, such as if you are 90 or older, have a mental impairment or live in a very remote location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">You can apply for a waiver <a href=\"https:\/\/godirect.gov\/gpw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/godirect.gov\/gpw\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 CNN Newsource.
