A trove of original art from the pages of Playboy magazine and other artifacts associated with the iconic publication will be auctioned off in Los Angeles later this month, officials announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cFine Art from the Playboy Archives \u2014 Part II\u201d follows up on the first such action from last December, and will take place Aug. 26 at Julien\u2019s Studios in Los Angeles and online at juliensauctions.com.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis next chapter unveils some of the most coveted and unseen pieces from the golden era of Playboy,\u201d Julien\u2019s said Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the heart of the sale is a celebration of Playboy\u2019s unparalleled legacy of commissioning fine art from some of the most iconic artists of the era. Headlining the event are stunning works by LeRoy Neiman, whose energetic paintings and Femlin illustrations captured the seductive pulse of mid-century America.\u201d<\/p>\n
The auction includes more than 300 items. Among the highlights are:<\/p>\n
\u2014 LeRoy Neiman, \u201cSquaw Valley Painting\u201d (estimated at $30,000-$40,000);<\/p>\n
\u2014 Alberto Vargas, \u201cPin-Up Watercolors from 1963 & 1965\u201d ($10,000-$20,000);<\/p>\n
\u2014 Patrick Nagel, \u201cSeagull and Sailboat Drawing\u201d ($4,000-$6,000);<\/p>\n
\u2014 Harvey Kurtzman & Will Elder, \u201cLittle Annie Fanny\u201d 6-Panel Comic Strip (1963), $12,000-$15,000;<\/p>\n
\u2014 Ed Paschke, \u201cRainbow Rabbit Head Sculpture\u201d ($8,000-$10,000);<\/p>\n
\u2014 Crystal Hefner, \u201cDiamond and Platinum Engagement Ring Set\u201d ($15,000-$20,000;<\/p>\n
\u2014 Collection of Bound Playboy Magazines, ($10,000-$20,000);<\/p>\n
\u2014 Custom Purple Silk Pajamas * Estimate: ($1,000-$2,000);<\/p>\n
