Spider-Man Day 2025 has come and gone, bringing some nuggets about Tom Holland\u2019s live-action return<\/a> in Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> next year. But today brings news of a Spider-Man movie we\u2019re actually even more excited about: a standalone animated movie centered around Spider-Punk, co-written by Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> broke the news of the Oscar-winning actor\u2019s new project (lately, all his headlines have been regarding that bizarre yet intriguing Barney movie<\/a> he\u2019s got in the works), which is said to be \u201cin early development.\u201d Kaluuya would co-write with Ajon Singh; \u201cplot details are under wraps, and there are no other deals in place at this time.\u201d It\u2019s also not confirmed that Kaluuya would voice the character, but you have to assume that\u2019s in the cards.<\/p>\n

Spider-Punk has been around since 2015\u2019s The Amazing Spider-Man #10, when he was created by writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel for a Spider-Verse comics crossover. As the trade reminds us, Hobie Brown is \u201ca version of Spider-Man who leans into a more anarchistic, anti-establishment attitude than Peter Parker\u2019s version. Residing on Earth-138, the character is fueled by his desire to help take down corrupt systems.\u201d<\/p>\n
