iOS 26 includes a redesigned Camera app that changes how you switch between shooting modes. As of iOS 26 beta 5, the redesign comes with a new toggle in Settings as well.<\/p>\n

In addition to changing the visual appearance, Apple has changed the interaction model for how you switch between shooting modes. Previously, the visual metaphor for switching modes was like moving a physical dial with different shooting modes under your finger. If you swiped left, you moved to the dial setting to the right.<\/p>\n

iOS 26 replaces the visual metaphor with a glass loupe that moves in the direction of your finger. For example, if you want to switch from photo to video mode, you swipe left toward video. It\u2019s the opposite of how it\u2019s worked for years.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s been a recurring complaint for beta testers this summer. As of beta 5, Apple has a fix in place in the form of a new toggle.<\/p>\n

It appears in the Settings app under the Camera section under the label Mode Switching. The setting itself is called Classic Mode Switching, and it\u2019s off by default. The description reads: \u201cReverse the scroll direction of mode switching.\u201d<\/p>\n

This will probably be a very popular toggle when iOS 26 reaches the masses.<\/p>\n
