The Harry Potter<\/a> wizarding world has found a brand-new Dark Lord to fear. But the Voldermort announcement might not be the one fans were expecting.<\/p>\n

Per Variety<\/a>, Audible, in collaboration with Pottermore Publishing, is conjuring up Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, a bold, immersive retelling of J.K. Rowling’s seven-book fantasy phenomenon. Matthew Macfadyen, best known for his role as Tom Wambsgans in Succession, will lend his voice to Lord Voldemort<\/strong> in this reimagined audio production. The actor’s take on He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will be one of more than 200 voices who will bring the magical world to life like never before.<\/p>\n

Audible’s new venture joins an expanding Harry Potter universe<\/a>, as HBO’s television adaptation has officially started filming in the U.K. Interestingly, there will be a slight crossover casting as Arabella Stanton, who will voice Hermione Granger in the first three audiobooks<\/strong>, is also playing the character in the HBO series. Joining the young actor in the trio’s early years are Frankie Treadaway as Harry Potter and Max Lester as Ron Weasley.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From book four onward, the roles pass to Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis, each voicing the golden trio<\/a> as the series matures. The adult cast is equally star-studded. Hugh Laurie will voice Albus Dumbledore, taking up the mantle from Richard Harris, Michael Gambon<\/strong>, Jude Law – and ahead of John Lithgow, who’s set to play the headmaster in the upcoming HBO adaptation. Laurie called the role “an honor,” acknowledging the legendary actors that came before him.<\/p>\n

“I’m honored to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore<\/strong>, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation by Pottermore and Audible,” he said. “I’m also deeply conscious of previous drivers Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law and the iconic narrations by Jim Dale and my colleague Sir Stephen Fry.”<\/p>\n

“Just below the horizon, but headed our way, is the rough beast John Lithgow, his hour come round at last,” Laurie added, referring to Lithgow’s casting in the upcoming Harry Potter<\/a> series. “This is great company, and it’s a privilege to be among their number.” Also joining the Hogwarts staff are Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall<\/strong>, and Cush Jumbo as the narrator guiding listeners through the entire saga.<\/p>\n
